Bullitt is the perfect mix of love, loyalty, and naughtiness!!  We remember the day we brought him home like it was yesterday, and to say that the past 8 ½ years have been adventurous and amazing would be an understatement.  If he’s not curling up with us on the sofa, Bullitt’s probably getting into (or trying to get into) something he’s not supposed to.  His sweet beagle face and effervescent spirit brings boundless amounts of happiness to our lives.

Words cannot describe the devastation we felt when our best friend was diagnosed with Thyroid Carcinoma on January 6, 2011.  Our perfect and always healthy “puppy” was only 7 ½.  Soon after, he was also diagnosed with metastatic lung disease; unfortunately the cancer had spread to his lungs before we knew something was wrong.   He went through radiation and chemotherapy at UPenn.  There were many months of stability in 2011, which we were extremely thankful for.  However, through most of last summer, Bullitt was in pain from what likely was a nerve sheath tumor (or a slipped disk).  Another round of radiation and lots of meds fixed that though!  As of today…1/30/12…Bullitt had to stop chemotherapy due to a drop in white blood cell counts, and the nodules in his lungs are mildly progressive.  We are keeping our fingers crossed that this devastating disease takes it’s time.

Despite everything he has been through, Bullitt loves life…especially when food is involved!!  His strength and bravery is incredibly inspirational.  He recently lost his vision due to cataracts, but it hasn’t slowed him down a bit.  His beagle nose is more than compensating!  If he seems like he’s found a “hidden treat” somewhere, then he definitely has!

We are truly grateful for the support of our family and friends, as well as from those at Willingboro Veterinary Clinic and the University of Pennsylvania.

We are very excited for this year's Bark and Bowl!!  Sadly, canine cancer affects 1 out of 3 dogs, and of those, over half will lose their battle with this terrible disease.  Please help us in helping our loyal friends because they cannot help themselves!!
